I don't have the time to go through it.
-
I don't know how but I am sure it will be resolved soon.
-
I don't know where to go, what to do or how to start.
-
I will be embarrassed if my family and friends ever find out.
-
I am just not good with numbers/figures/budgeting.
-
I don't see a problem.
-
I will pay it off the moment I received my bonus.
Sounds familiar? All are excuses by debtors who are in
self denial and these allow them to hide or ignore their impending financial doom.
Unfortunately this is the choice for many people who
are suffering in silence and struggling with their debts, willing to do whatever they can just to continue making
minimum payments for the rest of their life. Many people will rather
stay trapped in debt year after year because they feel that it is just
easier than doing something about it.
The main reason is that it offers the opportunity for them to avoid the
embarrassment, humiliation and stigma that could be involved, that is,
until the debt catch up with them. This is where most debtors face the head-on hostility of their
creditors. Should they continue to ignore their situation, they can end up
with judgments and garnished bank accounts as well as liens against their
properties. This in itself is sometimes enough to drive debtors into the
bankruptcy courts just to stop the continuous harassment of phone calls,
abusive letters and threats. Unfortunately, by deciding not to face their
debt and just struggling along with the minimum monthly
payments, it will, in the long run, leave them
in a much worse financial position.
Ignoring the constant phone calls and letters from the
creditors will eventually lead to the courts
that could result in Wage
Garnishee or Writ of Seizure and Sale. Guess who pays for the costs
of the legal actions? The DEBTOR! Making the amount bigger and the
situation worse.
Action is needed to completely eliminate your debt. Just hoping or
praying things
will get better will not resolve the problem as the
creditors will continue adding on late charges, legal fees that would bleed you
financially for the rest of your life.
Address the issue as soon as you realise that you might have financial problems. Don't leave it
until you are late on payments, borrowing money from one credit facility to pay
for another or stressed out over the non-stop calls from creditors. If any
of these
sounds like you, seek help and give us
a call. Ignoring your debts or just struggling by is not a way out.
TAKE ACTION NOW!!!
